Moving day at the US Open did not disappoint. I was waiting for some amazing golf and the third day at Erin Hills was it! The leaders kept making the knockout punch against their competitors and they all responded in kind. I found the seesaw battle of the top 10 finishers amazing; none of the players carded anything worse than a 68; with a 63 and 65 thrown in the mix!

If someone was tuning in for the first time this weekend and just looked at the scores, they would never think it was moving day at the US Open!

I have to mention Justin Thomas’ 63 – with 2 bogeys! That is just amazing; shooting the lowest score in Major history (tied with Johnny Miller) and a 59 in one golf season….the future looks awfully bright for Justin.

Not to diminish Justin Thomas’, I did watch some fantastic drives, brilliant approach shots and amazing putts, however these were over shadowed by one shot by Brooks Koepka.

On the par 5, 667 yard 18th hole set up for one of the most amazing fairway shots I have ever seen. After a 367 yard drive, Koepka was left with just over 300 yards to the green. After a towering 3 wood, his ball came to rest on the green about 20 feet from the pin. This was an amazing risk/reward shot that left Koepka with an eagle putt and a possible share of the lead. As it turned out, he left the eagle putt just short and had a tap in for birdie. He is currently tied for second and is ready to make a charge today.

Update as of 1436 hrs Sunday:

Today is the race to the finish! Anyone in the top 10 (-8 or higher) has a chance to win this year’s US Open. However, the real odds go with the top 5. Most pundits will lean towards Rickie Fowler, however, I am not so sure. My feeling is that Justin Thomas will be tough to beat, but my real choice is with Brian Harman. I am not sure why, but my gut tells me that he will rise to the challenge today and with that, a lefty will win the US Open.
