The Open 2019 – Moving Day

Get out of the way because Shane Lowry train is chugging down the track! Shooting a 63 today a Royal Portrush has set him up for an outstanding chance to win the Claret Jug. So much for my idea that you cannot win a Major on Moving Day!

It is hard to believe that Lowry best the next player by 3 strokes. Tommy Fleetwood shot a 65 and lost ground….how is this possible. Well, stellar, consistent play by the current leader shows that magic can happen at anytime on the golf course.

There are many players lurking, but unless there is a total collapses by Lowry, this Major is in the books. I realize it is way to early to make the call, yet it seems to be a done deal. However, should we discount Fleetwood, Rose, or Koepka; logic would suggest that this is folly. Yet, I am going to do it.

I did not have a chance to catch the action today, so here is the morning recap and I will update with a full recap when it becomes available.

I am hoping to watch more of the action tomorrow since the tee times were moved up because of weather. The first tee time for the final round will be at 7:32 am, with the leaders beginning their final round at 1:47 pm. From what I can read and watch, the action is outstanding.

Good luck to Shane Lowry in the final round tomorrow. May your train of stellar play continue to the end.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. The weather, of course, will favor the early starters. So I expect things to tighten up a bit. Maybe someone makes a big push early
I think Lowry will hold off the pack and win by two.

Played today in New Jersey. 100+ heat index. loved it ! I played a decent round coming back from MCL injury. But my goodness the sweat! I was seriously thinking of breaking out the rain gloves to get a good grip on the club.
