It is that time of year when I look at putting my golf clubs away. The wet temperatures and cooler weather is the key indicator that it might be time to go through my end of season routine. 😦 😡 
Although my clubs are still in my golf locker, I mean my car, I think they are starting go gather dust from lack of use. It is a matter of time (very short in fact) before I pull them out, clean them, and store them for the winter.
Winter is coming! My 6-month off-season is just around the corner and it is time for me to start thinking about my training routine that will propel me to new heights next year.
Each year I think about where I can improve both physically and mentally. It is a bit of a process which starts with me examining my golf season and realistically think of where I can improve. I am under no illusions that where I want to improve will prepare me for The Tour, but it will help lower my handicap index and move me towards becoming a scratch golfer.
Before my area is covered with white stuff, I still have plenty of things to do that will fill the void of not swinging clubs. At the top of my list is to prepare my indoor driving range. I already have some ideas to slightly modify last years design, but more on that later. For now, I am content to puttter (no pun intended) around my yard keeping myself busy.
The transition time from golf to now golf happens very quickly. Unlike the agonizing wait for golf courses to open in the spring, the end of golf season is very sudden in my area. It is upon us right now and I slowing starting to adapt to my new normal.

Jim, head on down to Arizona where the prime season is just getting started. Aren’t they opening the border soon? I’m looking forward to seeing my Canadian snow bird friends.

Not planning on traveling anywhere for the next year or so. There is no plan to open the border at all.

Their golf season is typically for September to May. In certain areas, you can actually play year-round if you can stand the heat.
It’s a good read. got to alot about.Thankyou.
Golf course need maintenance all year round even in off seasons. It better to keep it good shape.

I would have to move way down south to play year around. As such, plenty of golf course maintenance happens in a short time here and our maintenance team does a fantastic job.

Jim, sad for you my friend. Season’s end is no fun.
On my side, I’m hoping this year will be like last where it didn’t snow and was warm enough to play straight through the winter. Probably a long shot. I’m booking my third trip of the year (for Christmas) to South Carolina. Will definitely bring the sticks and get some work in. Truth be told, I’m scouting out retirement properties where I might move and be ensured of playing year round.
Now get busy on those DIY improvements! 🙂

A front blew through today and kept me off the practice area as I had planned for myself. But the front that ruined my day today will make my tomorrow better. It’s bringing an “arctic blast” of cool, dry air to us. The high tomorrow will be 80°F with very little humidity (or at least as little as you get living on the Gulf cost). 😂
And I plan on making full use of the best weather since summer began. I’m playing what is probably the best municipal course in the area. My tee time is at 3:15. I’ll go have a nice lunch at an outdoor cafe and then get to the course early and make use of their practice facilities (the best in town) so I’m as ready as I can make myself before teeing off.
Knowing your season is already ending makes me feel almost guilty. Almost. But I know half of Canada will be here soon to give me more competition and I have to stay sharp. 😎
