The connection between the ball and your swing is grounded in your stance. The positioning of our feet in relation to the rest of our body is simple….right? Actually, if you are new to golf, stance and ball position are complex because they are unique to each player. The stance is unique because every golfer has a different physique and athletic abilities. However, to find the stance that works for us, it is good to have an understanding about the basics. From there, we can create stance that works for our game.
Looking back on my career, I wasted a great deal of time not knowing the basics of golf. I did not take the time to learn things like the stance and this set my progression back a few years. Additionally, I did not have the access endless supply of golf information; the trick is to know what information is good for our game. Fortunately, I found a video that explains the basics of the golf stance that is worth sharing.
Now that have the basics of the golf stance, it is time to make it work for your game. I recommend that you play with your foot position, but start with hitting balls as indicated in the video above. About shoulder width apart and then adjust. Personally, I keep my back foot square and my lead foot about 10° tilted outwards. It works best for my game.

Knowing the basics is very important to moving forward in developing what works best for your game.
