The LPGA Tour – Worth Watching!

LPGAThe golfing world is still reeling from the adventures at The Masters last weekend! Everyone is still talking about the back nine at Augusta, but most golfing pundits realize that the green jacket is won or lost on the last nine holes on Sunday. During all the hype, the other tours took a back seat, but it is now time for them to claim their position in the limelight!

I am a fan of the LPGA. The excitement of the women’s professional golf might not seem to have the same draw as other tours, but I believe they have their own superstars and are sometimes overshadowed for no reason. I am not sure where you stand, but the LPGA is worth watching, especially for amateurs trying to lower their golf scores. Continue reading

A Golf Plan To Be A Scratch Golfer in 2016

Good shot or poor shot, Every shot is an opportunityto learn to be a better golfer. One of my life time goals as a golfer is to reach the élite level of being a scratch player. Averaging par 10 games out of 20 is a very difficult feat. There are many challenges each player must face when setting goals and I have found that without a plan of some sort my expectations far exceed what I achieve.

This year, I purposely waited until the beginning of the golf season before implementing my plan to be a scratch golfer. I will follow the same processes as previously stated, but I thought I would update my planning processes and ask for feedback on my way forward.

Golf Wisdom – Schooled By Experience

Old ClubsGolf is an interesting sport, the young seem to think they can dominate the wily veteran through sheer power, but I am not so sure. Bernhard Langer at this year’s Masters was schooling the young guns until the last round; although he had a tough last round, he did finish in T27, not bad for a 58-year-old! For the first three rounds, he used his guile, experience and confidence to stay in the hunt and that kind of golf wisdom is generally gained from experience.

This reminds me of a game of golf about 25 years ago that taught me many lessons I never want to repeat. The main lesson was to never underestimate my opponent, regardless of what they look like, swing, or equipment they use; and never think that you have them beat before you start to play!

The Grateful Golfer Community – Masters Recap

Walk and smell the roses.

Good rounds or bad rounds, I am always grateful to play golf!

The Masters in one of my favorite professional golfing tournaments of the year. Normally, the massive media hype at the Masters is hard to fathom, however the events in the final round exceed all media expectations. Crowning Jordan Spieth as Masters champion as he walked to the 10th tee box seemed like the prudent thing to do, but alas golf is a fickle game and at anytime, anything can happen!

I have already recapped my thoughts about the final round at Augusta in Monday’s post, so there is no point in regurgitating it again. However, as I read the articles from the Grateful Golfer Community (and a couple of others). Their perspective is fun, educational, controversial, and worth the read! Continue reading

The Masters – Final Day

WOW! No kidding, all I can really say is WOW!

mastersWhat a finish to The 2016 Masters. For golfing fans, this finish could not have been scripted any better. The real winners from this Major were the fans. It seemed that the moment I turned my head away from the action, something crazy would happen!

I am not sure if you watched The Masters, if you didn’t, the last 9 holes were absolutely amazing. The number of pressure shots missed and made was epic. Through the entire 2.5 hours, some players quietly went about their business and others, not so much. If you missed it, this is what I thought were the highlights of the last day at the 2016 Masters.
