Confidence is Golf’s Sixth Man!

Confidence is golf’s sixth man. It can change our fortune on the course, if we let it! It helps overcome difficult shots and energizes your game to new levels. Confidence is a game changer.

I have talked about confidence before. But, I sometimes I am not sure that I have actually grasped the real importance of being confident on the course. The lack of confidence shows up in many ways: negative thoughts, the dreaded can’ts, second guessing, or anxiety over a shot. Black Bear Ridge Golf Course, Belleville, Ontario

On Sunday past, I was fortunate enough to take part in the Military Appreciation Day at Black Bear Ridge Golf Course at Belleville, Ontario. This is a top-notch course and depending the site, is rated in the top 100 in Canada! Regardless, Black Bear is a great course that offers many unique challenges that are both subtle and obvious!

The Military Appreciation Day consisted of a 4 person Best Ball. Basically, everyone plays their own ball and the lowest score of the group is recorded as the team score. Individual handicaps are not used. The course was awesome, but the weather was crazy! We experienced rain, snow, sleet, 50 kpm winds, and it was only 9 degrees. The sun made a brief appearance, but the weather could not dampen out spirits! Continue reading

Golf Infographic: What Wedge When?

Selecting the right wedge at the right time is critical to low golf scores. Over the years, I have adjusted my wedge use to what I believe is an 90% solution. Most of the time, my wedge selection is consistent and the results speak for themselves.

Beginners have a greater challenge. They understand that the different wedges need to be used at different times, but unfortunately there is a bit of confusion on when. The following infographic hopes to demystify what wedge to use when.

Black Bear Ridge Golf Course

Today, I am playing Black Bear Ridge Golf Course! It is one of the best courses in the area and they have graciously opened their doors to 60 serving military members and we are grateful for their generosity.
