With only three days to go before the Golf Historical Society Of Canada hosts the 2024 Ontario Open Hickory Golf Championship at Whirlpool Golf Course, I am happy to say that I am prepared. I will hit the links at least once more (likely today) for I make the trek down south and I could not be happier with my preparation to date. And yesterday was my best day so far!

Advice From Tiger Woods
I talk about golf everyday. Whether I am writing, playing or chatting about golf, I feel that my game improves. I do not consider myself an expert by any means, but I understand the fundamentals enough to share my knowledge with other players. Today, I was searching for something about the mental aspect of golf because of the hickory stick tournament next week. I like to reinforce my idea about how to be competitive without over analyzing my game. I came across this video by Golf Digest where Tiger Woods talks about the mental side of golf. It really struck home and will help me next week.

Today, I practiced my short game for about an hour. It was very rewarding and I found out a few things about my hickory clubs. It is not really profound, but it is something I needed to determine before my tournament next week. I did determine what clubs to use when and how they respond to contact. Interestingly, I noticed that my hickory sticks need cleaning and I am all over that requirement. In the meantime, I found out other things that will be valuable moving forward.

I started my practice plan in preparation for the upcoming Hickory Championship next Monday and Tuesday. As I stated yesterday, I had a plan to work on my short game, putting and ball contact. I played nine holes and hit 5 balls from various locations on each hole. It was a plan to test out my hickories to determine which club I should hit from what distance. The plan started off well, but I need to make a few adjustments moving forward.

I have a week to prepare for a fun event and I think I have a game plan that will work. I am not expecting anything fantastic with respect to scoring, but I do hope that I can make a great showing at the hickory championship next week. Knowing this, I figured out what I must do this week and we shall see if my plan works.
