What A Crazy Finish At The 2025 US Open

Congratulations to JJ Spaun for winning the 2025 US Open Golf Championship. It was a crazy finish that was the survival of the fittest. It is hard to believe how challenging it was for the players to even make par. I was cheering for Adam Scott, but alas it was not his year. Regardless, JJ Spaun earned the win as he played the best golf down the stretch.

Now on to the Open Championship from July 13-20 from the Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is going to be exciting.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Spaun certainly earned it. An under par finish after 4 days on that course in those conditions deserves the accolades for sure. I’ve heard it described as a boring event. And I can’t say I disagree.

I read today that a one handicapper played the course the next day, so same conditions, and shot a 93. A 7 handicap would get 25 strokes playing that course from the back tees and probably come away feeling like they needed twice that many.

The thing is, it is so penal when you were off by just a little around those fast greens that we didn’t get to see much in the way of variety of shot types. It was basically hack it out and pray. That was a bit on the boring side in my view.

That doesn’t take anything away from the winner. They all faced the same conditions and he prevailed. It just left me a bit wanting. Other courses seem to manage to give us a better show while still giving those guys a tough test of golf.

It’s a minor gripe though. Seeing those guys get beat up and how they dealt with it was still a good lesson for us. Well, most of them. lol
