The Cost Of Golf Is Arising!

As an avid golfer, I try to play as much golf as possible during our short season. This will include many rounds at my home course (where I am a member) and an opportunity to play at other local courses. The challenge faced by many golfers, including myself, is the cost of playing away from our home track. I realize that in some areas, the opportunities are boundless, however living in a rural area does not afford me the same opportunity. Chatting about the cost of golf with some people makes me wonder if the golf industry is squeezing out many players due to the rising costs of everything. It does make me wonder; how about you?

Hit Booming Drives

Watching professional golfers is great fun. The results from the elite players is something that amateurs can only dream about accomplishing. The crisp sound of contact with their driver is pure. I have heard that sound once or twice in my career, but not at the level of a professional golfer. Their amazing results off the tee drive many golfers to spend more time hitting the big stick vice working on their game and lowering their score. That, however, is a discussion for another day. I wonder, how far do amateurs actually hit their drives on a regular basis?

Forgetting What Works In Golf

Playing golf is not a challenging sport. It is based on fundamentals developed over time that drive what shot we can hit next. Sounds simple, right? We golf is a challenging sport if we want to play this wonderful game well. There quantity of information that is routinely processed with seconds takes a super computer just to reach a reasonable outcome. Every shot is influenced by a plethora of stressors that our six inch piece of real estate between our ears process in an instant. This is the nature of the sport, yet most of the time our failure to hit the proper shot is rooted in forgetting what works in our golf game.

Improving Our Golf Game Today!

“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow.” – Anonymous

When I read this quote I tried to focus on a specific part of my golf game that would fit these sage words. The challenge I have is that it fits my entire golf game regardless of how I am playing. Basically, the efforts I make today are more valuable than waiting for the perfect time (which is an illusion) in the future to practice or make changes. Regardless of how strong our golf game appears, improvement can only be created by action today. I am not trying to be a philosopher, however this quote applies to life as well.
