Three Golf Tournaments In Three Days

Today starts the day of three (potentially four) rounds of golf in tournaments. It will be a very busy week, but great fun as well. Unfortunately the three booked are scrambles with the potential of the potentially fourth round being match play. The rounds will all be a different courses and with different players. So, lots of golf with great friends is in my future starting today. Being matched with a variety of players, it will be challenging to keep my strategy in check because each player brings something different to the table.

Best Golf Advice From Walter Hagen

If we search golf advice on the internet (about 314,000,000 results in less than .5 seconds), we would quickly be overwhelmed. Every once in a while a great piece of advice comes across my screen that I feel I must share. Well, today’s advice is brought to you by Walter Hagen:

I cannot recount the number of rounds when Hagen’s advice hit home. Everyday is different on the golf course because we never know what will happen from one swing to the next. Of course, we hope our best game will always show, but not always. Therefore to paraphrase Hagen: suck it up and make the best of your swing each day!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Full Swing Analysis – It Is Not For Everyone

Trying to emulate a great golf swing is challenging to say the least. It is almost impossible for an amateur to look at a great players swing and say, I can do that no problem! This approach to golf is rife with pitfalls and rabbit holes. Similar to other golfers, I try to improve my swing through observation, knowledge, and experiment. Therefore, as an amateur I do not recommend having your friends analysis your swing and offer suggestions. This would be considered a fools errand at best! However, understanding that you want to improve your golf game, analysis is required.

Well, I am happy to report that it is working out very well and I feel more confident than before…..with a few minor challenges.

What Happens To Your Golf Game When The Pressure Rises

For many golfers, when the pressure rises to score well, their success goes in the opposite direction. I do not say this lightly and I am not trying to slight anyone, however most golfers do not handle the pressure of a must hit shot very well. If you are wondering why success is so difficult to achieve, one only needs to examine their past experiences. Most amateur golfers rarely play in must make situations with their golf game. With the lack of exposure to pressure shots, many golfers do not have the knowledge to respond properly. Fortunately, I have played in many golf tournaments that produced a plethora of pressure situations; the results have improved as I became a more experienced player.
