Scramble Vs Best Ball Format

Often confused terms are scramble vs best ball format. Most amateurs have the opposite views on these formats and as such mix up the meanings. I thought it would be a good idea to explain these two formats as they are the usual playing methods of charity or team golf tournaments. It really is counterintuitive, but not hard to understand.

Choosing The Right Club From 160 Yards

Many golfers have a challenge selecting the proper club from a mid iron distance. In my case, this distance ranges from 160 to 180 yards. I have clubs on either side of this distance that I can comfortably hit, however using a 6 or 5 iron in that distance range does not always produce the consistent results that I crave. I am not sure why this is the case, but I think it has something to do with my ball position. I will have to study that a bit more in the future, but for now, I have a quick fix that works for my game.

Hitting The Ball Well With Poor Results

Yesterday I played in a two person scramble with my friend Len. On paper we looked very strong, but the results did not live up to the hype. We were matched with Blair and Fernando as per last year and overall we had a great time. There were lots of laughs and jokes shared by all. How Quickly Our Golf Game Rusts!

Taking two weeks off definitely created the perfect conditions for rust to accumulate on my golf game. Surprisingly, my swing was okay but my shots after the tee box needed a great deal of work. I realize that I had very little touch around the green when I was practicing before our round. But alas, I did see an improvement as the round continued.

Hitting Your Driver Off The Fairway

Hitting your driver off the fairway is not normally a shot most of us would try. It is a challenging shot and requires a slightly different set up routine. Additionally, I find that the course conditions need to be drier than normal in order to allow the driver head to bounce off the ground. Given my normal swing plane, hitting a driver off the fairway is not a normal shot, however it something I tried last Men’s night with great success.
