What a great combination – Father’s Day and the US Open Championship. For most men, this is a fantastic combination. Many, I presume will take advantage of both by golfing in the morning and watching the action in the afternoon.

No Big Surprise At Day 3 Of The US Open
Anyone who follows golf was not surprised by the scores shot yesterday at the 2023 US Open Championship. Most of the top players shot around par and were grinding on most shots. It only takes a mistake or two and their scores were dramatically affected. Conversely, shots like Scottie Scheffler made on the 17th hole that resulted in an eagle can push their score in a positive direction. Regardless, LACC is playing as expected and the final round today will see players lamenting over every shot. If you want to see professional golfers put all their skills to the test, then today is the day to watch golf.

Playing golf is one of life’s pleasures. I have many others which include family and friends, however as a past time, golf is at the top of my list….in the summer. 😉 Each time I hit the links I never know what is going to happen. This uncertainty adds to fun of whacking a little white ball over 6000 yards of green space. Regardless of the day, my hopes of playing great golf never diminishes because that is a draw for why I play golf. On Friday past, I played golf at my old stomping grounds of Osprey Links. Of course there are always exceptions and it is not my intent to shine a negative light on other golfers; I am only talking about my golf game. If given a choice, I will walk most golf courses. There are some I have played that walking is not wise due to its design, however 95% of golf courses are walkable and I enjoy taking the stroll. Other than the physical benefits of walking a golf course, the mental benefits are often overlooked. I play better golf when I walk and here is why!
Continue readingPlaying Golf With Long Hitters
The ultimate goal of every golfer is to shoot as low a score as possible. When playing stroke play, the responsibility to play our best golf relies solely on our shoulders. This is a challenge I relish and as I enjoy the pressure of figuring out the best shot for each situation. Playing in a scramble format, however, this strategy is less advantageous because there are other players we can rely upon to make the most out of any shot. This situation occurred last Thursday when I was invited to play on my friend’s team of long hitters. I was by far the shortest off the tee and my normal role of anchor was relegated to a different player.
