Understanding the mechanics of chipping immediately puts many golfers to sleep. The hear a ‘blah blah blah’ as someone drones on about the plethora of chipping topics. I have to admit that sometimes I also lose interest if I am watching a video and the instructor does not quickly get to the point. Lee Trevino is considered one of the greatest players of all time. Considered one of the top 25 players of all time, his magic around the green is infamous. That is why I am using his tips in my article today on how to stand and swing your clubs when making a shot around the green. Interestingly, Trevino explains something that is counter intuitive to amateurs starting out for the first time. His explanation demonstrates why many golfers pull the ball when chipping – something I had to fix several times over my golfing journey.

Recently, I talked about sinking short, knee-knockers. Putting is as much a mental thing as a physical. Figuring out how to sink 4 to 6 foot putts is a skill all golfers should master. I realize that sometimes it is a challenge, but for the most part these putts all come down to a process. Doing the same steps each time when putting (actually all our golf shots) is important because it eliminates unwanted swing errors. After watching a video by Nancy Lopez, her process is similar to the one I use especially with respect to alignment.
