Using the scoring clubs with skill is a challenge for all golfers. There is no question that a player with a strong short game (the distance varies depending on skill) will shoot lower golf scores. Additionally, they will carry themselves with confidence as they know very few shots will cause them to mentally breakdown. There is one aspect of chipping around the green that all elite golfers execute without hesitation. It is the one skill that all golfers should learn and use if they want to improve their ability to play well with their wedges. It is not challenging and yet seems to dumbfound many amateurs as they develop their skills around the green.

Earlier in the week I posted about taking stats on my next round of golf. Although one round does not provide enough data to make any solid decisions on where I need to practice, the one round I played did provide some possible focus as to where I need work. Not for the lack of trying, I have not made it to the golf course in about five days. Normally, I would have played a couple of rounds in that time, however the rain and cold weather has stopped me from looping around Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort. Today, I have decided to layer up and play anyway. It will be cool, but I have to start playing or the first month of my golf season will be gone. When I hit the course today, I figure I will focus on a couple of things that will improve my swing and overall mental preparedness for when I challenge my friend Mike later this week. He and I have a friendly standing bet and over the past few times we played, he kick my butt. So, it is time to turn the tides and start playing like I know I can. To do this, I have to focus on two specific things and if I do, I will be off to the races.

The truth is that you can never produce fundamental changes to your golf game without practice. However, there are some things, according to Rick Shiels that you can do it lower your golf score. That is different than improving your overall game, but the results may be just as rewarding.
