Through the years I have owned 5 sets of golf clubs and double the number of specialty clubs. Over 40 years of play, I have only fixed 3 clubs. They were part of a full set of Ping Eye 2 Red Dot that belonged my father. He gave them to me at his passing and I still have and cherish them. Because of their value to me, I retired them many years back in the hopes of preserving them a little longer. The First Time I Broke 80
This article was inspired by Jimmy at Tiger Golf Traveler. He wrote an article about breaking 80 for the first time and his story resonated with me. So I thought I would take it one step further and outline, in my opinion, the key to breaking 80 consistently.
As most golfers understand, wedges are the key to low golf scores. Of course, hitting a solid driver and consistent iron play are very important, however, great wedge play will help ensure you break 90, 80, or even 70 consistently. But first, my story.
The New Normal Syndrome in Golf
This is a tough question for most golfers. Many amateurs think they hit the ball farther than they really do and are not shy to say so. Last week, a friend of mine, Tim, called a co-worked on their claims.
I do not know the person Tim was talking too, but we will call him Larry for easy of the article. Tim is a very good golfer and probably has a similar handicap to my own, so he has some game. Larry apparently talks a good game and is not as accomplished as Tim.
