Thoughts of Day Two at The Masters

All I can really say is WOW! That was quite a display of golf all around, but Rory McIlroy stole the show. Shooting a 7 under 65 with 2 bogeys is amazing. Who would have thought that he would develop such a commanding lead. Knowing how golf goes, most of the pundits will say that McIlroy is a lock to win (given past history of such leads), however moving day starts soon and anything can happen. Given his current state of play, I would suggest that he is likely to win by shooting two more rounds of 70; but, you cannot count out any of the top players from shooting their own 65 to close the gap. I guess that is why we watch Major golf tournaments.

Thoughts About The First Day At The Masters

The first day is in the books at the 2026 Masters golf tournament. ‘A tradition like no other’ seems to fit the bill this year as 91 golfers vie for the Green Jacket. There are some past champions like Freddie Couples (one of my all time favorites), Vijay Singh, Mike Weir, and José María Olazábal are playing one of their favourite courses. There are many young guns who I do not recognize, but the top players in the world are still showing that consistency is key to playing at Augusta. This is one of my must see events through the year and my top pick, defending champion Rory McIlroy, is a co-leader after day one. With great weather forecasted for the weekend, what do the players chasing the top of the leaderboard have to do in order to be in Butler’s Cabin on Sunday?

An Exciting Moving Day At The 2025 Masters

Moving day at the 2025 Masters was by far the most fun to watch in years. Saturday is traditionally the time when players make their move to position themselves for the final push on Sunday. Two players stood out and a couple moved up the leaderboard. With only 18 holes to go, I predict that if a player is not with five strokes, the chances of winning the green jacket are virtually non-existent. Although it is possible, it is unlikely that Patrick Reed or Ludvig Åberg will shoot well enough and Rory McIlroy, Corry Conners or Bryson DeChambeau will all play poorly enough to open the door for a run from down the field. So, with this in mind, what can expect in the final round of the 2025 Masters.

Predicting The 2025 Masters Winner

In years past, I have offered my prediction for the winner of the Masters. Starting tomorrow, the field of 95 players, including the 12 LIV Golf players, will tee it up to try and claim the green jacket. This is my favourite Major in professional because the whole mystic of Augusta captivates my attention. This year I am not 100% that the scores will follow the traditional unfolding of the leaderboard. I have a few thoughts, but I would not bet the bank of my predictions.

My 2024 Masters Predictions

For years I tried to predict the winner of the a Major. The Masters is one of the most challenging because if never seem to get it right. I have been close a few times and actually named a winner, but overall success is limited. Well, that does not discourage me from trying. Besides, if I am correct this year, imagine the bragging rights I will have….right? The 2024 Masters is starting soon and I thought I would drop my picks just before the Honorary Starters (Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson) hit the first ball.
