There are many different areas of discussion in golf that it is sometimes difficult to decide where to focus our efforts. One of the areas often overlooked is the follow through after contact with the golf ball. Many amateurs (myself included in my early days) pay little attention to our actions after contact not realizing that they are as important as the setup and swing movements. Balance and Your Golf Swing
One of the important aspects of the golf swing is balance. It is something that every golfer is trying to master in order to have a smooth, controlled swing. It is something I worked on for years and I found that the concept of 80% helps keep my swing tight and repeatable. However, that is not the topic of today. Sam Snead offers an interesting approach to managing the balance of your swing. It is a simple drill and I can definitely see the value to giving it a try. It is simple, easy to do, repeatable and sustainable…..all the tenets to a great golf drill.

Many aspects of our golf swing are connected. Regardless of what our training focus is on any given day, it will bleed over to other aspects of our swing. During today’s discussion, Johnny Miller talks about returning our lead shoulder back to the original set up position before making contact. His view is that this movement helps with compression and contact and, of course, he is correct. However, there are some secondary results that should not be overlooked. They are as important as the main area of your training focus.
