Becoming A Chipping Wizard In Golf

Every golfer intends the shoot their lowest score while standing on the first tee. The elation of hope is abundant until their first chip that leaves a long putt for par. This situation is common all around the world, but alas there are ways to fix this reoccurring challenge. There are many processes the offer a quick fix, however my years of experience tell me that practice is the only sure fire way to improve our golf game. I recently looked at a video by Chris Ryan and found that his five tips help create a foundation of great chipping. It is definitely a place to start if you are looking to improve your up and down percentage.

Chunking A 40 Yard Golf Shot

All golfers chip the ball for about 40 yards. The fact that we do not have enough distance to make most long par 4 holes, this shortish distance plays greatly the shots required to get up and down. The principles of chipping the ball from 40 yards are similar to around the green. The technique I recommend focuses on how we use our wrists from this distance and why it is an important skill to master.

Proper Setup When Chipping

How far do you stand away from the ball when chipping? I can honestly say that when I set up, I think I am in a natural position, but I never really measured. Normally, I stand in a quasi upright position so that the heel of my club is slightly off the ground. This position works and after measuring I found that it is about two feet away. Improving My Short Game Around The Green

After my practice round on Wednesday past in preparation for the 2 person best ball tournament (a 2 day event) I am dissecting were I can improve my game in order to reduce my golf score. During yesterday’s article, I talked about the three major areas of focus that were gleaned from playing Clear Springs after a 10 year hiatus. After more introspection, I think that chipping onto the fast greens is an area I will have to think about more. So, it is back to the basics for me.
