With the arrival of 2025, every golfer looks forward to the their playing season with renewed hope and excitement. Yup, as the events of 2024 are now in the history books, it is up to all of us to chart a course of success on and off the golf course. While thinking of new ways to improve my golf game, it is important to accept that the highs and lows experienced in the previous golf season will likely emerge in the upcoming 2025 season. This is nothing new, but I have found ways to hopefully reduce the lows in improves the highs of my golf game…..they are not profound, yet do provide a foundation that will shape my upcoming year.

Does Your Game Progress Over The Golf Season?
I often wondered if my golf game improves over the course of the my golf season. It is important to me to keep my game progressing, but sometimes I think that I have hit my wall of success. I am not fussed by my lack of progress, but it is important that I at least feel that my game is improving over the course of the season. As I get older, I find that even small successes are enough to keep my motivation going forward. I do understand that at 60 years old, future success will be measured in smaller and smaller increments; and I am okay with that. How about you? Would small successes be enough for you to stay motivated?

Finding a golfing philosophy that works is a challenging venture. There are only a million different views on how to improve our golf game that I often become overwhelmed by the deluge of possibilities. Through my many years of playing, I have changed tack many times, but there was one core tenet that I kept with unwavering consistency. Probably by accident in the early years, but by design now, my focus on trying to improve one specific item in my golf game has never changed. This simple step has shaped and molded my game into what it is today. With the 2022 golf season a mere six months away, it is time to design my intended golf path for next summer.
