An Important Approach Shot Tip For All Golfers

Approach shots are the bane of most golfers golf scores. Some times we do not pick the proper club to fly the ball to the green and others we just aim poorly. The biggest challenge, in my opinion, is the strategy of always pin hunting regardless of the length of the approach shot. Most of us are not very accurate from a distance, yet we still think it is a good idea to hunt for a tight sided pin in the hopes of making a miracle shot. Unfortunately, hoping in golf tends to lead to disaster. The solution to this dilemma is to aim for the center of the green……if our ego allows this decision.

Three Swing Faults Explained

For those golfers who think that the golf swing has change drastically over the past 100 years, I recommend you revisit that thought. The basic tenents of weight shift, stance, body position, etc have been refined through the use of science, however the basic movements (or faults) remain the same. Chipping Tips On Stance

Lee Trevino is considered one of the greatest players of all time. Considered one of the top 25 players of all time, his magic around the green is infamous. That is why I am using his tips in my article today on how to stand and swing your clubs when making a shot around the green. Interestingly, Trevino explains something that is counter intuitive to amateurs starting out for the first time. His explanation demonstrates why many golfers pull the ball when chipping – something I had to fix several times over my golfing journey.

Wrists or No Wrists While Putting

I was taught to minimize my wrist movements during my putting stroke. I have used this lesson throughout the years and feel I have a fairly solid putting stroke. I have tinkered with it over the years and have settled on my current stroke that involves very little wrist action. After watching a Brad Faxon video, I might wonder if I need to change or at least experiment with moving my wrists slightly while putting. I will have to think about that for a while, but the conversation is important.

Golfers play in different course conditions routinely throughout their season. Some days it is wet, cold, windy, dry, lush, and rock hard to name a few. As we try to conquer the varying conditions it is important to be able to hit different types of golf shots. Yes, this does mean we need to practice at the range to manage our swing movements. As I perused different topics to chat about, I found a tip by Mark Crossfield that was made for certain conditions, but in fact is a universal golf tip that all players should master.
