The most recent development in golf is the use of hybrids. This club looks more like a fairway wood than an iron; hence, the term hybrid. Developed in the early 2000s, this club has become a staple in most golf bags. As an amateur who struggles hitting long irons, I am elated with the expansion of hybrids. These unique clubs added a new dimension to my game once I accepted that they were better for lowering my golf scores. After embracing this new innovation, the task on how to hit them consistently became the next step in the evolution of my golf game. Well, after 15 years or so, I think I know what I am doing….but, do I really?

How To Hit Your Hybrid Or Rescue Club
Your hybrid, often know as your rescue club, is not a new invention. Now about 40 years old, it is a club that has revolutionized the amateur game. If you are like me, hitting the long irons is always a challenge due to my slower clubhead speed. Using a hybrid opens a new dynamic to my game that actually lowered by golf scores. The challenge for many amateurs is how to hit the hybrid to maximize the results for my swing. Is there a standard method to hit a hybrid that every players should know? That question haunted me for some time until I realized that hitting hybrids is easier than I thought. Many poor hybrid shots are rooted in poor setup positions such as ball position and shoulder position. Unlike woods, the ball position prior to starting is more important than with most other clubs. Each player will be slightly different with their set up, but in my case I was playing the ball to far forward. To determine if your ball is in the proper position for your swing, the ball flight is the greatest tell. Knowing what to look for is critical to ensuring solid contact and consistent results with our hybrids.
