Every round of golf requires players to hit the ball out of the rough. It does not matter how hard we try, our ball will inevitably find the rough. Knowing this, do you understand what club to use when to ensure that we minimize the damage of mishits out of the long grass. Many times I a have ruined a round of golf be poor club selection out of the rough because I did not account for how my ball was lying in relation to the grass around my ball. Fortunately, I have learned this lesson (many times) and I think I make better club selection now than in my past. Do you understand what club to use depending on how your ball is lying in the rough?

Successfully Hitting Out Of The Rough
Every round of golf produces lies that can confound most players. Hitting the ball out of the rough is definitely one of those times where understanding how to produce a great shot is needed. There is not one round of golf I have played, ever, where I did not have to hit at least one shot from the rough. Knowing I will need to hit a difficult shot forced me to realize I needed to practice and understand the process of hitting out of longer grass. It is a skill that understand, but do not always execute. That is the nature of my game. Is it the same for you?

I was watching a video by Michael Breed who was a popular teacher on the Golf Channel. The video was about how to create solid contact and consistency. As I watched the video, I realized that I already make most of the adjustments Breed suggests, except moving my weight forward a smidge before starting my swing. I followed his video very easily, then it dawned on me that this video was not for the beginner and possibly for an intermediate player. The reason I think that this is an advanced video is because he has me changing no less than six things when hitting out of the rough. Here, take a look:
