If a golfer has a swing fault, it usually is a slice. And no matter how hard we try, that slice ball flight never goes away. I am fortunate as I rarely play a slice. My ball travels straight indicating I have made square contact with the ball. This does not mean I do not hit errand shots, but it does allow me to play from a safe position more often than not. When I did have a slice, many years ago, I worked tirelessly with the goal of removing this swing fault. Well, I wish I would have and the internet back then because it might have sped up my learning curve.

Choosing The Shot You Prefer In Golf
The majority of amateur players hit the ball, walk to the ball, hit the ball, walk to the ball….ect without much thought as to how changing this pattern could lower their golf scores. The ‘whack a mole’ process of playing golf causes challenges for some players because they never really know what shot they will have next. Sometimes that is a fun approach to golf, but during tournaments it usually costs unnecessary strokes added to our final tally. How can we break this trend in order to be the best version of ourselves on the golf course?

I cannot remember the number of times I have talked about producing spin on the ball around the green. I am okay at this skill, but I would never consider myself an expert. I understand the concept of placing spin on the ball and in my mind this transfer to a soft touch during contact. It might seem like a stretch for many players who find it challenging to land the ball softly in their landing area. It is a dreaded shot for most players because the chances of success is greatly dwindled. Well, fortunately, there is a simple technique that makes this shot as easy as chipping out of the fairway. Seem too good to be true, read on a check it out.

I carry a 60° wedge. I made the decision years ago to remove my 5 wood and replace it with a lob wedge. I feel that my wedge play is more important than the distance I gain from the wood. It took a bit of time to learn how to properly use a lob wedge, but I think I have a pretty good grasp on how and when to use it. To be fair to you the reader, this was a difficult club to learn how to use and I use it sparingly. There are several times a round where a lob wedge does come in handy and fortunately I took the time to hone its use. Does that mean that the 60° wedge is for everyone…..that is a personal decision.
