Even a blind squirrel will find a nut from time to time. That is how I felt yesterday when playing golf. I played very consistently, but nothing fantastic or special. I hit 65% of the fairways and 45% GIR, but I was able to score okay and walked off the course with a 76. This is still a few strokes higher than needed to lower my handicap index, but I am getting there. I did, however, want to share my last shot into the 18th green, it was by far the best shot of the day!

My Handicap Index Is In Correction Mode!
At the beginning of each golf season, my handicap index tailspins into correction mode. This year is no different except I did not play any substantial golf last year to help stem the tide. So, as I record my games at the Golf Canada website, my index is starting to rise. I am not sure how far my index will rise, but I am mentally prepared for whatever my game will present.

On Wednesday, I participated in my second Men’s Night in two years. Osprey Links Golf Course reserves Wednesday night for men to gather, play golf, eat a great meal and enjoy the company of strangers. Each week, we play a different game and last Wednesday, we played ‘Vegas Scramble’. This is a fun game that provided 92 players the excitement of the unknown on each tee shot!

It is golf season in most of the northern climes! I chomped at the bit for so long waiting for golf season, I just need mother nature to cooperate. I have played 3 times (9 hole only) and want to get out more. On those days I could have played 18 holes, but carts were not available because the course was “too wet”. I mean common on, it does not seem that wet to me. So, lets get on with it! Additionally, the front 9 is still closed with no indication of when it is going to open. These are only a few of the current challenges facing my golf season from charging into full steam. So, what is the hold up; it has to be the General Manager and Superintendent!
