Today is the final round of the US Open held at Pinehurst No. 2 golf course. The players are the top worked some magic yesterday with Bryson DeChambeau leading the pack. The course is a beast the totes small lightning-fast greens, challenging rough, and tough playing conditions. The play today will set the stage for some amazing play with many highs and lows. The difficulty for most armchair analysts is who will step up to claim the title? Will it be someone from the back or will the leaders duke it out in a slug fest?

The 2024 US Open – Thoughts?
I have to say that as an avid golfer, I forgot that the US Open started yesterday. I was engrossed in my daily routine and thoughts of my own game when someone asked me who I thought would win. The question did take me by surprise and to be honest, I have completed very little research. I know it is being played at Pinehurst No. 2, at Pinehurst, North Carolina and it is playing over 7500 yards. After that, I plan to delve into what is happens today after my chores are finished for the day. Regardless, I do have a couple thoughts after looking at the Day 1 results.

Many people think that Confucius is only talking about life. Well, I would suggest that it definitely applies to golf as well. As we travel through our golf journey, we attain a great deal of knowledge that helps or changes our game. The real test is whether we are willing to use that know ledge properly. See what Rory McIlroy has to say:
Knowing our golf game and accepting our limitations is a great first step to playing great golf. Even McIlroy states that professionals will avoid low percentage shots. To me, that just makes sense. After playing thousands of rounds of golf, I realize that I am still learning about my game. It has taken some time, but I also accept that certain aspects of my game (although it is uncomfortable) need to change in order to play better golf. I choose to continue to learn about golf and hopefully that will transition into something better than it is today.

Hit Booming Drives
Watching professional golfers is great fun. The results from the elite players is something that amateurs can only dream about accomplishing. The crisp sound of contact with their driver is pure. I have heard that sound once or twice in my career, but not at the level of a professional golfer. Their amazing results off the tee drive many golfers to spend more time hitting the big stick vice working on their game and lowering their score. That, however, is a discussion for another day. I wonder, how far do amateurs actually hit their drives on a regular basis?
