Watching The Open

As I sit and recieve my chemo treatment today, I am watching The Open on my tablet. I am using The Open app to watch the featured 8, 9, and 10 holes. The coverage is very good and it provides a great overview of the course conditions and how Carnoustie is not as nasty as I had first thought.

The scoring is lower than I first antcipated with Kevin Kisner in the clubhouse at minus 5. If the conditions remain the same, the low score ever at The Open might be in jeopardy.

Currently, Henrik Stenson holds the record for the lowest finishing score, of 264, at the Royal Troon. In 2016, he shot 20-under par on the par-71 golf course. At this moment, 5 players could reach that score if they continue to play well through the weekend.

I can see the players are not attacking Carnoustie, but playing cautiously with the intent of not having a blow up hole. I cannot say I blame them, it is the safe way to be around during the weekend.

I will be watching for anothe 3 hours or so and I hope to see some great shots and stellar play.

Are you watching The Open?

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
