My golf season is in full swing. I have ample opportunity to hit the links without any challenges of time to play. As an example, on Friday, I skipped out to the course and only played three holes. I had planned to do a quick nine, but the course was busy and poor weather was coming in. Being only 10 minutes from the course, I did not feel compelled to stay and grind out the rest of the six holes. I had a great time albeit short. The next few months is where I will continue to work at my game with the focus on playing for fun. Regardless of the time I spend on the links, I will have fun and enjoy the moments.
Being at a different stage in life affords my relaxed approach to golf. I have decided that my game is probably as good as it is going to get because I have decided not to force out any additional effort. I am comfortable with my game and realize that I can go low from time to time, but extra hours needed to play just a bit better is not worth the time it takes to achieve minor successes.
My view of playing golf for fun does not mean that I do not care about my game. It just means that I accept the possibilities that fun may take priority in my everyday game. Do not get me wrong, I do enjoy the challenges of playing golf on tough courses and trying to shoot my best score always, however I think changing my expectations will reduce my frustration (which happens from time to time) and allow me to focus on other aspects of golf such as the beauty of my surroundings and the joys of socializing with friends.

It is not a difficult decision because my game is evolving that way. Golf is supposedly a fun sport, right? Therefore, why not embrace the path of least resistance. I know that withered will be times where I focus on playing better, but for now, it is time to enjoy the ride.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
