Using Train Tracks To Aim A Golf Shot

Aim your golf shot is a fundamental skill. Like other important traits to a golf shot like grip, stance, and ball position, being able to aim your golf shot properly is critical. There are many different techniques to develop this aiming skill, however I like the analogy of using train tracks for my game. It is simple, easy to understand, and repeatable. Sounds pretty easy, right? Well it is easier than you might think.

When playing golf, I believe that being target oriented is uber important to hitting successful golf shots. Greg Norman said “aim small miss small”; this statement has huge implications on our set up and how to aim. This tenet works for my game, especially around the green. On a side note, the aim point is not always the pin, it is the spot that offers the greatest chance for a successful golf shot. Knowing this, it is time to think about train tracks.

Aiming your golf shot using the train track analogy is very simple. I learn this skill many moons ago. It has not failed me ever. To be fair, I do mess up my alignment from time to time, but selecting an aim point is never overlooked. For my game, keeping the train track aiming technique at the forefront of each swing is key to a great golf score.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
