I played golf with my good friend Marc yesterday and we had a fantastic time. It was a time to continue to reconnect, hit some great shots, and relish in the beauty of walking the course. As I sit here thinking about my past week of golf, I am very grateful for the wonderful opportunities to repeatedly experience the my passion. How blessed am I.

I do not have any golf words of wisdom today, but I thought I would wish everyone a Fantastic Friday.

Playing A Shooter’s Golf Course

There are many types of golf courses that requires a different skill set. Some courses we can just bang away without fear of missing the fairway. Others, we rely on the roll to shorten the distances between tee and green. And then there a shooters courses where accuracy and distance combine to add additional challenges when playing. I was fortunate to play such a course last Sunday with my friend Mike. It was all about club selection, hitting to distance, and being on the proper side of the pin from our approach shot. Windermere Golf and Country Club provided the challenges expect on a shooters course and more!

Putting On Fast Greens

I wish I had researched this topic prior to my round at Windermere Golf and Country Club (Windermere) in Muskoka, Ontario. The awesome course had postage stamp greens, but many they were a challenge for my game. The greens were twice as fast as I normally play and I would be a liar to say I was able to adjust my game prior to teeing it up. More to follow on my round at Windermere later in the week. Back to putting on fast greens; there is a way to adjust and for some reason I was not really thinking about this as I let the excitement of playing a fantastic course. Regardless, I figure I would offer some tips for putting on fast greens because I sure could have used them last Sunday.

Walking The Golf Path Of Gratefulness

There is a reason I called my golf blog The Grateful Golfer. As I tried to develop a positive mindset due to some medical challenges, I felt that talking about and sharing my ideas about my passion would allow me to focus on being grateful for the wonderful aspects of my life. After 10 years of musings, I can honestly say that my goal succeeded beyond my expectations. As I round the corner to the back nine of my life, I think it is time to double down and continue sending positive vibes of gratefulness into my 3 foot space and beyond.

Stressing About Golf Shots

Playing in a competition or on the cusp of shooting your best score heightens the stress level of most golfers. We tend to “get in our head” thus causing us to second guess our normally routine shots. It is inevitable that the closer we are to success on the links, the higher the levels of stress we need to manage. Regardless of which shot needs to be perfect, our mental approach to these situations is the key factor to managing that empowers golfers to perform under stressful conditions. I have experienced this situation many times in my career with mixed outcomes. However, as I matured as a golfer, I found that performing under stress has become easier producing brighter outcomes.
