What To Do When The Ball Is Above Your Feet

Depending on the course you play, you may be faced with a plethora of lies that are far from flat. My old home course of Osprey Links offers a multitude of challenging lies on the separate nines. It is a very fun track that challenges all of our shot making ability because of the dichotomy of terrain. Specifically on the back nine, I was guaranteed to have lie were the ball was above my feet. It is a shot I work on in practice because I knew it was practice time well spent. Because of this, I thought it would be a good idea to cover how to make such a golf shot.

As an amateur, I am always looking for advice from better players. Wait, let me revise that, common sense advice from better players. No, wait, common sense advice that I can actually use from better golfers. Tommy Fleetwood quickly offers a list of things that amateurs can do to improve their golf game. He might not have realized that his words provide greater insight than expected. But for me, it hits to some of the fundamental tenets of golf.

Do You Consistently Pull or Push Putts?

One of the challenges most amateurs have is not keeping their ball on line when putting. We either pull or push the ball on a consistent basis. It is a frustrating result, yet many are not sure how to fix this swing fault. Personally, I try to keep my putter head on my aim line through the putt. That includes the backswing and follow through. My technique was developed over many years of practice. To get to this point, I went through many ‘trial and error’ sessions. Fortunately now, I do not have that problem. But, my success does not really help you the reader. Well, that might change.

We Are Not Out Of The Woods Yet!

Spring is a difficult time in my area. For the most part, we expect that warmer weather will increase our chances of our local golf course opening. But, alas that is not true. Starting tonight, we are expecting another blast of winter. It makes many golfers in my area sad because that will push back opening day at least a week. A Chipping Drill Lowers Your Golf Scores

After playing golf for many years, I comes as no surprise that I believe our approach shots are critical low golf scores. The greens in regulation stat is by far the most critical and i am always on the look out for different chip shots that will increase my GIR. For the most part, practice is key. However, are we practicing with intent and focus or are we just hitting balls to pass our practice time. Personally, I like the latter; how about you?
