I am sad to say that I will not be attending the Toronto Golf and Travel Show this year. It is “the largest golf event in Canada bringing thousands of golf enthusiasts together. Features hundreds of exhibitors, product demonstrations from the top brands in golf and lessons from PGA of Ontario professionals all weekend!” It is an annual trip that has become a milestone for the start of my golf season. This is an often talked about subject with no right answer. It struck me as an interesting topic for today because my friend at 36aday is have a Snell Golf Ball give away. One of the major drawbacks for starting golf seems to point towards cost. I would agree that the initial start-up costs can be hefty, yet I am not convinced golf is really any more expensive that football or hockey. Both sports (and golf) require a certain amount of equipment before anyone can play in an organized fashion. I am sure you read the articles regarding Julio “The Machine” Bell, (self-proclaimed) who received a sponsor’s exempt position for a Web.com Tour event and shot 93-105. Of course he missed the cut, however the plethora of remarks from the golfing world sparked my desire to comment.
I know it is hard to believe, every once in a while I hit a wayward golf shot. My ball leaves the fairway, much to my dismay, and ends up in the cabbage. Usually after a short look and a foot wedge I miraculously have an awesome lie. The times when my playing partners are in range, I have to make a magical shot out of tough lie.
