I hate to 3 putt!

Golf is a funny game. To score well, it is important to have a well-rounded game that fires on all cylinders. I know this because over my experience has taught me that any weakness or flaw will be accentuated under pressure. Of course pressure is relative to every player and what bothers me may not bother you. Such is the nature of golf.

However, there is one part of our game that is essential to low scores. Being a consistent putter is more important than a strong short game, booming drives, or precision approach shots. If the flat stick is not working, the rest of your game does not matter. Let me explain. Continue reading

Professional golf has well over 10 different tours four our viewing pleasure. Most are feeder tours for the PGA, European and LPGA that provide the opportunity for younger players to cut their teeth in the professional ranks. These tours have developed over the years to meet the growth of professional golf and the demand for more opportunities for the expanding numbers of players trying to make it to the big leagues. Keeping Dry on the Golf Course

It is spring and our course is soaked. As we trundle around from hole to hole, the real challenge of golf is to side step the puddles and quagmires left by the receding winter. This yearly test of agility is eagerly embraced by most golfers. Personally, the wet does not bother me much, but from time to time the soaked ground becomes tiresome. Continue reading

My First Round of Golf Went as Expected

Yesterday, I played my first round of golf in 2017. My first round went much as I expected, but I did learn a few things that may or may not be incorporated in my training going forward.

As I stated earlier, yesterday was all about hitting the ball. I had no expectations about playing well, but just to have fun and hit the ball. I accomplished that and much more.

My 2017 Golf Season Starts Today!

Another journey starts today.

The day has finally arrived. After 200 days (yes, that number is correct), I am hitting the links! The long, cold off-season is over and at 2 pm today I am teeing it up with my friends Blair and Rick. Our course has 9 holes open because of the wet front nine and this will be a perfect start for me. Of course I am not planning to just show up at the course and play because that is how injuries happen after such a long lay off,. So, here is what I am thinking. Continue reading
