Hitting Different Clubs Off The Tee

A couple days ago, I played at Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort. It is a par 37, 9 hole golf course in my local area. It was the first time I played this course in 2020, but have played it many times in the past. The aspect I like about this course is that only use a driver on five holes. The rest of the time I used an iron or my 3 hybrid. When using different clubs off the tee, it is important to have a distance left to the green in mind before teeing it up to ensure you use the correct club.

The Highs and Lows of Scramble Golf

As you can surmise from the title, our 3-person scramble did not go as well as we had hoped. Regardless of our play, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed our time playing “whack-where did that go?” As I had thought before we teed it up, GIR was the critical factor for scoring. A particular stat we did not excel in at all. Regardless, I am still a grateful golf and looking forward to Tuesday when we play again.

Asking The Tough Questions About My Golf Game

With the goal to be a scratch golfer, I am always asking myself what I can do get to the next level. I am currently holding a 3.8 handicap index and to get it to zero will take (I suspect) more than I am probably willing to commit. But, I am not willing to give up on my goals just yet. If nothing else, it will keep my driving towards something that will continue to improve my golf game.

Doubles Are Killing My Golf Score

I am in that time of my golf season where I am starting to slump a little bit. I currently have 37 rounds posted at Golf Canada and have lowered my handicap index to 3.9, yet I find myself in a bit of a struggle. I seem to be shooting two double bogies a round during four of my last five rounds. I talked about no trouble doubles in an earlier post, but my woes are still hanging around.

Relying On Your Best Club For Low Golf Scores

Every golfer has that one favourite golf club. It is the stick that they can hit consistently and effectively most of the time. Generally, the higher the handicap, the limited number of clubs that you would consider your favourite. However, as you become a lower handicapper, this one club will expand and in my case it has expanded to four. Yup, I have four favourite clubs that I rely on to shoot my lowest golf scores. Let me explain.
