As an amateur, we find the most unusual places on the golf course for our ball to hid. We do not intentionally place ourselves in these predicaments, but alas hit happens all to often. Professional golfers do so, but with less frequency. The challenge is how to respond to these wayward shots and to make something out of nothing. Phil Mickelson is one of the best of all time at extracting himself from trouble and I wonder what is secret really is to see the shot and the hazard?

My Handicap Index Is In Correction Mode!
At the beginning of each golf season, my handicap index tailspins into correction mode. This year is no different except I did not play any substantial golf last year to help stem the tide. So, as I record my games at the Golf Canada website, my index is starting to rise. I am not sure how far my index will rise, but I am mentally prepared for whatever my game will present.

On Wednesday, I participated in my second Men’s Night in two years. Osprey Links Golf Course reserves Wednesday night for men to gather, play golf, eat a great meal and enjoy the company of strangers. Each week, we play a different game and last Wednesday, we played ‘Vegas Scramble’. This is a fun game that provided 92 players the excitement of the unknown on each tee shot!

With three 9 hole rounds under my belt, I completely understand why golf is a challenge. For the most part, I am playing poorly with some glimmering shots of hope. And to make things worse, I did hurt my elbow and have to take a few days off to let it heal. So what else could go wrong, I mean really! Does any of this sound familiar? If it does, perhaps I need to revisit why I play golf.
