The activity and scores at the Masters on Friday went pretty much as expected. The leader did not increase his lead and many of the to players shot well to close the gap. Virtually all players moved up the leader board including Rory McIlroy (which I did not choose) and Bryson DeChambeau. Some notably names missed the cut (Freddie Couples who I was tracking), but many players shot solid rounds and closed in on Justin Rose who is leading at minus eight. With all the activity unfolding as expected, what do we have in store for actual moving day at The 2025 Masters?

The Action Continues At The 2025 Masters
The first day of action at Augusta National did not disappoint. As predicted, one player, Justin Rose, shot out of the starting gate and build a three stroke lead. Scottie Scheffler, Ludvig Åberg and Corry Connors (Canadian) are in second place at four under par. Like many players, Rory had a great round going until the two double bogeys down the stretch. Of note, Freddie Couples shot one under par to recorded the second oldest player to shoot this score in Masters history – Go Freddie! The action was great on the first day, so what can we expect on the second?

In years past, I have offered my prediction for the winner of the Masters. In commanding fashion, Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Masters. This was his second win in three years and the fifth youngest player to win the Masters twice. There was no surprise as Scheffler lived up to his world number one ranking with long straight drives, precision irons and strong putting. Scheffler took a strong lead after Amen Corner and never looking back as he recorded a smooth 68. He earned his second green jacket!

Traditionally, Saturday at any golf tournament is considered moving day. This year, I would call it ‘hold on for dear life day’! With two 68s making the lowest scores of the day, the lone 69 by Colin Morikawa had the greatest impact on the leaderboard. The leaders prior to the start of round three hoped to put some distance between them and the field, but alas, they were holding on for dear life for most of the round. It was a typical day at the Masters where Augusta National was the deciding factor on how well the field played.
