An Interesting Golf Tip Focusing on Your Grip

The root of many golfers woes starts with the grip. I know I am still challenged from time to time with a short thumb. As a seasoned golfer, this challenge becomes lessened by the fact that I have a very well established pre-shot routine. Wait, what is short thumb with respect to your grip, that is a great question. My Favourite Chip Shot

I have talked about chipping with my 7-iron many times in past posts. I often try to discuss what to do to make the magic happen, but may not have hit the nail on the head. That is until I found this video by Nick Faldo.

I have used this drill about hitting out to distance, but I never thought that hitting the ball backwards. It makes great sense and I will definitely be adding this drill to my list next spring. Until then, my search for great, simple and repeatable drills continues.

Brad Faxon is a well respect professional golfer who has turned mentor and teacher. He offers advice in many areas and I have used his sage wisdom in previous posts. I happen to stumble across a short video on putting where Faxon offers a fundamental tenant that all golfers should follow. It should be the basis of your putting stroke and maintained as you build your unique style of putting. It is a great tip and needs to be watched by all golfers.

Putting Tip For Short Putts

Butch Harmon offers a tip on how to successfully sink short putts. The crux of the lesson is to keep you head focused on the contact point between the ball and the putter before looking up. This helps facilitate solid contact and a complete putter stroke.

Very simple and effective. I use a version of this tip by counting to one before looking up. It works for me, give it a try and see if it works for you.

How To Successfully Change Your Golf Game

How to successfully change our golf game is the pursuit of all golfers. There is little question that if you are bitten by the golf bug, seeking any advantage (legally of course) is at the forefront of your mind when on the links. I know that after many years of playing, I have found only one constant that will successfully and without fail improve our golf game. This lesson is demonstrated to me over and over again, but to maximize my success we will need to temper and mange this one aspect of our game. It is the simplest and most difficult skill to develop.
