2023 US Open – The Course Will Decide

The more I delved into the architecture of the Los Angeles Country Club, home of the 2023 US Open, the more I realize how much of a challenge this venue will be for the field. I did not realize the massive elevation changes were so prominent. I am confident that no player will have a flat lie except on the tee box. The undulating course will definitely affect the shot selection and club choice. He who chooses wisely will have a distinct advantage during the first round of the US Open.

My 2023 US Open Predictions

The U.S. Open Trophy

The US Open starts tomorrow and the previous winner, Matt Fitzpatrick, must be excited to defend his trophy. Played at the Los Angeles Country Club, this par 70, 7421 yard monster is going test the skills of the entire field. With a mixture of players from all over the world, I often wonder if the US Open actually brings the strongest players together for a national championship. As of today, the usual suspects are at the top of odds list and one of them are likely to rise to the top of leaderboard on Sunday. The US Open set up is often the lead story on Thursday and I am confident that nothing will change this year. Regardless, I have my own views on who will win with one surprise.<

With the lack of exposure to pressure shots, many golfers do not have the knowledge to respond properly. Fortunately, I have played in many golf tournaments that produced a plethora of pressure situations; the results have improved as I became a more experienced player.

My Kingdom For A Putter

Playing golf is one of life’s pleasures. I have many others which include family and friends, however as a past time, golf is at the top of my list….in the summer. 😉 Each time I hit the links I never know what is going to happen. This uncertainty adds to fun of whacking a little white ball over 6000 yards of green space. Regardless of the day, my hopes of playing great golf never diminishes because that is a draw for why I play golf. On Friday past, I played golf at my old stomping grounds of Osprey Links. My old crew (Rick, Blair and Fernando) teed it up for the first time this year and our time at Osprey did not disappoint. Unfortunately, my round was marred by the fact that my putter decided to stay home!
