Receiving The Gift Of Golf

Over the weekend, I was given the opportunity to receive two sets of left handed junior clubs. My wife was looking a local Facebook group and a generous person was giving away the clubs. I jumped on the opportunity because I am planning organize a local junior day or camp in 2023. The challenge is finding a good practice area that will allow for all aspects of learning, but that is a challenge for another day. For now, I am so grateful that the previous owner graciously offered up the clubs because it helps to flush out my other clubs have in my inventory.

The left handed junior sets are kind of rare. When I was offered the two sets….for free….I jumped at the chance to add them to my collection. I am looking forward to using them this summer. Hopefully, I can set something else.

How lucky am I that someone offered to give me two sets of clubs so I can pay it forward. It is important that I share my good fortune by trying to introduce golf to some young athletes. Who knows, there might be a grateful golfer in the group.

With the holiday season upon us, I am grateful for the new to me clubs and look forward to using them this summer.

Gripping My Golf Club Too Tight

Grip it and rip it! Let the big dog eat! Swing Away! I guess I could go on, but you must be getting the idea of a theme by now. As my 45+ year golf journey unfolded, the advice of the experts was to grip my golf club tight enough to hold on to it during my entire swing. The challenge with that advice is that it really does not explain how to accomplish this important swing technique. Just how tight is tight enough because I do not want to lose my club during my swing from the force during all phases of my swing plane. It really can be a challenge for beginners to understand what gripping the club just right means to executing my most efficient swing. So, what does gripping my club too tight actually mean?

Have A Fantastic Friday!

I am feeling a bit sentimental today. So, no golf musings.

It is cool here at -10° C (14°F) and my yard looks like this:

But, I want this to happen:

Have a fantastic Friday and positive energy is heading your way!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Aiming, Chipping and Ball Position: Are They Connected?

I talk about chipping to lower my score. Next to putting, I chip more than any other shot during my game. I thought that I had everything figured out and even offered some tips from my experience. I thought that I had everything covered until I came across a video that connected aiming to my chipping ball position. I might have thought about it and unconsciously adjust my aim accordingly, but I was surprised that I never talked about how my technique could affect my aim while chipping.
