Happy Canada Day in 2022

The first of July is special to all Canadians because it is Canada’s Birthday.

It is time to get back to normal and start visiting all the awesome places Canada has to offer. I think that is the best present we could give to this great country. It is so beautiful, it is meant to be enjoyed!

Happy Canada Day

Canada is 155 years young! As a Canadian, I have so much to be grateful for; I believe that Canada offers more to its citizens than any country in the world. We are not the biggest, richest, nor most influential, but in my opinion, we are the best! After spending 36 years of my life protecting this great country, I still marvel at its majestic and pristine beauty.

Happy Canada Day!

Is There More To Life Than Golfing?

If you ask many golfers, I am confident a large percentage would say No! Some days Inwould be one of those golfers, but in reality my interests are evolving. Mostly, my interests revolve around doing things with my best friend and wife.

The activity we love to do is kayaking. This is nothing new, but this the season.

Boom Creek.
We love running water.
A foam iceberg!

We try to kayak for about an hour. It gives us time to chat, talk and be in the moment. The best part of our fun activity is spending time together being grateful.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Basically, I guess that is true. I recently read an article at MyGofSpy called: Study: How Your Handicap Affects Your Score. I found it very interesting because it filled in a few knowledge gaps and misconceptions about the interrelationship between stats and scores. If you have not read it, I encourage you do to so.

Shooting The Best Golf Score Ever!

After thousands of rounds of golf, I thought that there was very little left to accomplish given my skill level. Well, last Thursday during in our scramble Men’s Night competition I reached a new milestone. The four man scramble was played at the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort, my home course. When we first started playing, Mike, Barry, Charlie and I had hopes of playing well because of the favourable scoring conditions. And score well we did. Starting at the first hole, we played golf at a higher level than normal; Ii was very exciting and a great deal of fun. I am grateful I was able to participate is that magical round.

Stop Helping Your Chip, It Is Hurting Your Score

Chipping is a fundamental skill that all golfers must master. It is one what requires patience, imagination and confidence in order to develop the chipping stroke needed to lower your golf score. All to often, amateurs, like myself, forget to trust in our technique and try to help our chip get just a bit closer to the hole. Unfortunately, the only thing that happens is we stub or blade our chip resulting in grind to make par or bogey. Helping any golf shot usually results in poor execution, but when chipping it seems to create worse results.
