Dropping Putts From 4 to 6 Feet

I realize that I have been harping about putting from 4 to 6 feet lately, but it such an important distance to master that I cannot say it enough. In the beginning of my career, I thought that 3 foot putts were the most important putts to lower my golf score. As the years past, I found that 3 feet was not the distance I worried about, it was the knee knockers I had to make between 4 and 6 feet. I looked at a plethora of videos and none really hit the mark about what I think is important to sink more putts from the crucial distance.

Buying A New Golf Bag

After 10 years, I decided to buy a new golf bag. I looked around on the net, but decided to make the 3.5 hour trek to Golf Town in Ottawa to have a better understanding of what I was looking for in a new cart bag. Playing Slower Golf Improved My Score

On Sunday I hit the links for what I thought would be a quick round. I normally play nine holes on my new course in about 1.5 hours (give or take 15 minutes; okay give 15 minutes 😉 ) with two balls. Five Uses Of A Hybrid Golf Club

I love my hybrid golf clubs. Over the years, I have carried a 3, 4, and 5 hybrid, experimented with their use and have settled on a carrying a 3 and 4 hybrid. As I researched for today’s topic, I stumbled across a video by Rick Sheils that outlines five uses to a hybrid to improve your game and lower your golf score. As I was inspired by the video to write this article, I realized that I definitely use my hybrid for four of the instances Shiels suggests and a few more as well. Regardless of how many situations you use your hybrid, I think that it is important that they are used more because they really improve an amateurs ability to navigate out of challenging situations.

Selecting The Wrong Golf Club At The Right Time

Club selection will make or break any round of golf. It is one of fundamental tenants that all golfers must learn. I am not sure that anyone can be taught club selection or can they? I have played thousands of rounds of golf and through trial and error I have learned how to select the wrong club at the right time. My statement might seem crazy, but sometimes going against our gut feel or learned distances is the proper club choice to make the results we desire. Hence, we are making the wrong club choice at the right time.
