I recently had a conversation in the parking lot of Osprey Links with a gentlemen named Kevin. Our chat started by saying good morning to each other as he was putting his clubs away and I was heading out for a round of golf. Remember golf is a contact sport and chatting with other players around the course is always interesting. During our discussion, Kevin mentioned that he was having a tough time on the greens. He was struggling to sink the ball and in some cases, just get the ball to the hole. So, I thought I would offer up three putting drills that I have used/use over the years to helped me improve my short game dramatically.
Continue readingA Minor Swing Change That Worked
Trying to find the proper swing is a lifetime quest for any golfer. If we are not tinkering with our swing, than we are just not trying to get better. Of course, I say this with tongue in cheek. Not everyone tries to find that perfect combination of tempo, swing speed and weight transfer to maximize the results from every swing. My technique is very simple. The deeper the rough around the ball, the higher loft club I use to ensure I make clean contact on the ball. It works very well and it something that I can control on a regular basis.

Of course, I subscribe to these concepts of course management, but I think there are other important aspects such as picking the proper aim line. Why is this important you may ask, well that is a great question and worth further analysis.
