Second Leg Of My Match Play Event Is In The Books

Our match was schedule for Oh Dark Thirty. Actually, we teed off at 0645 hrs and the morning was gorgeous. The temperature was perfect, there was lots of dew (which never bothers me), and there was no wind. I could not have asked for a better day to play my second match. I was matched against Craig Wallace and unfortunately for him he was matched up against a bulldozer that would not stop. It was my best round of the year and my front nine crushed Craig because I could not miss and he had a tough day.

Dropping The Ball In Golf

Before you run off on a tangent about how to drop a golf ball, this article is about how I needlessly left three strokes on the golf course yesterday. I feel that I should have made those shots and my round would have shifted from mediocre to decent with respect to the score. Which Golf Game Is Showing Up Today?

On any given day, I could not tell you which of my golf games is going to show up. I expect that my normal game of five over is the baseline that should make an appearance. Unfortunately, I could not tell you whether I will shoot over that or under that on any given day. Sometimes the elation of a great start is slowly eroded by a few poor swings. On other days, just the opposite happens. I never know when these shifts will occur or why for the sudden change. It is frustrating, but all part of my golf journey.

Chipping In Is Always My Goal

Each time I set up for a chip (from any distance really), I have the expectation of chipping in. Of course this rarely happens, but I do not think that lag chipping is the proper approach to playing aggressive golf. Believe me when I tell you that I have hit some terrible chips, but the mental process of focusing on dropping a chip is always at the front of my mind. I believe that this approach is best suited for my game and has a dual function that helps to routinely lower my golf score; I think this approach will help your game as well.
