We have experienced the challenges of playing on a golf team where your playing partners are struggling to make a shot. No matter what they try, nothing seems to work and they are a drag on the team. I have been that player in the past and I am sure I will be in the future. The question is what to do to make things better for the player and the team. With the new world handicap system, lowering your handicap index will be even more of a struggle….I think. I am actually still trying to wrap my head around the new system, so more to follow on that. Regardless of what sport you play, there is always a time when you are expected to perform under pressure. Golf seems to have more of these exciting moments the most sports. At anytime during a competition, one shot could make or break your event. Just one shot can change to standings by several positions. And the closer we are to the finish line, the more the pressure on each shot mounts. It is exciting and scary at the same time.

Have you ever played in a competition where you believe that the Committee’s decision was not best for overall event? I have played in two events where I challenged the Committee and won both times. Both challenges were based in the rules and what was best for the field. In both instances, I thought that speaking up was best for the overall integrity of the event and to ensure that the field were fairly represented. It was not easy, but I am glad that I stepped up.
