We Are Getting Close To Playing Golf

Well, the time is almost upon us to hit the links. Because of COVID-19, all golf courses in Ontario have been closed since last fall (Well since mid-March for COVIC-19 and winter for the rest). Now we await patiently for the government to give us the thumbs up. And last Friday, Premier Doug Ford told golf courses to start full scale maintenance and to prepare for opening day! This is great news for all golfers in Ontario.

DIY Chipping Area

My practice areas are growing! It is exciting to move my golf training outside with the weather improving and it was just announced that golf courses in Ontario will likely be opening soon. So, expanding my practice areas seems to be happening at the perfect time. It is nothing special, but anytime I can hit golf balls outside is always a good thing!

Posting Golf Scores For Your Handicap Index

Posting your golf score after every round should be second nature. Of course, not all players think this is important because of the evolution of golf tournaments over the past 20 years. Somewhere along the way, between marketing and apathy, net events have lost their shine and have fallen to the weigh side. But, as an avid golfer you better beware if you do not have an official handicap. The changes to how scores are calculated have changed and understanding what “net” means will be important to future golf events.

Never Say Never On The Golf Course

I know my limitations and expectations when playing golf. These important mindsets were honed over years of playing well and poorly. Because I feel I have a handle on what shots I can comfortably make, I sometimes disregard the right shot for an easier shot. For some reason my mind wanders into the “I can never make that shot” zone instead of looking at all the variables and choosing the shot that needs to be made. I really dislike it when my mind wanders and I become disappointed at my mental weakness. But what is a golfer to do?!

Breaking 70 in the 2020 Golf Season

Regardless of your abilities, I think every golfer has a target score they want to achieve. They might not want to opening express their goal, but even in the back of their mind it is there. This year, I am taking a stand to break 70. This will be two under par at Osprey Links, but I think I have the game to do it. I think it is important to set goals it is time to get back into the swing of doing just that!
