Do You Have the Right Rain Gear for Golf?

When your golf season is only six months long, seven if we are lucky, a golfer must learn to play in all types of weather. In the warmer months, rain is never a reason to stay home and knock of items from my ‘to do’ list. It just means that I have an opportunity to work on my golf game in adverse conditions. Of course to do this, I need the right kit to ensure I can still play my best golf. But, what is the ‘right kit’? Is it standard for everyone?

Keeping Everyone’s Golf Score

Keeping score for most golfers is the benchmark by which they determine if they had a good round or not. Personally, it is only part of how I measure my rounds, but for sure I keep everyone’s score whether they ask me too or not. Having said that of course, during friendly matches I keep a hole by hole score in case I am asked. During competitions, I track everyone’s score, especially mine and the my assigned opponents. It is a habit I formed years ago and have not stopped today.

Removing Your Hat Is A Sign of Respect!

I believe that removing your hat after a round and shaking hands with your opponent is a sign of respect for the game and opponents. A majority of golfers agree with me and yet there is seems to be a growing number of people who believe that this tradition has out lived its usefulness. I realize that some traditions surrounding our society are changing, but I do not believe that removing your hat to shake hands after a round of golf should be one!

COVID-19 Golf Solutions

I applaud entrepreneurs who are thinking of ways to overcome the challenges golfers face during this current pandemic. One of the greatest concerns is the handling of the flagstick on every hole. Obviously, as a golfer I do not want to touch the flagstick at all and require a solution for removing my ball from the hole. What is a golfer to do?

The Amazing Spirit of A Small Community

I recently moved to the small town of Mattawa, Ontario. It is my wife’s hometown and our decision was driven by the desire to be closer to family. Over the years, I have visited this beautiful town that was built around the junction of the Mattawa and Ottawa rivers. The scenery is fantastic, especially in the fall, but I never really understood the pride of so many of the people who live in Mattawa. That is until I moved here!
