Every year, November 11 is a special day to all military personnel. Today, we take the time to honor the fallen, wounded and serving military men, women and their families. Their sacrifices have allowed for the freedoms we enjoy today. It is important to give thanks and be grateful for our wonderful lives they protect. This is my third year out of uniform after 36 years of service. It will be a different experience for me as I learn to be a veteran still trying to serve my community. But, not matter how much time passes I will not let my gratitude diminish to all my brothers and sisters in arms who gave their lives so we can live in peace!
Golf Tips for Seniors
Unfortunately, I am fall into the category of a senior golfer. Actually, I am only a couple of years away from being allowed to move up in the tee blocks for Men’s Night, but that is a different discussion for another day. Right now, I am still having fun playing from the white tees (6000 to 6500 yards in distance) because my game is strong enough to play well from that distance. They are not difficult, but when followed will improve your overall experience for you and other golfers.

I cannot remember the last time I whiffed a golf shot, but I am confident it has happened over the past 45+ years. It is not something that happens often with any of my playing partners, but it definitely has occurred through the years. There are many possibilities as to why a golfer misses the ball and most likely the root error is in their swing. Having said that, there is something that does contribute to whiffing the ball that most amateurs overlook: anxiety.

I cannot remember the number of times I have talked about producing spin on the ball around the green. I am okay at this skill, but I would never consider myself an expert. I understand the concept of placing spin on the ball and in my mind this transfer to a soft touch during contact. It might seem like a stretch for many players who find it challenging to land the ball softly in their landing area. Regardless of where your thoughts are, it is important to understand that having the ability to place spin on the ball (even slightly) helps us control the ball all the way to the end result.
