Training in the Off-Season

Training in the golf off-season is a fundamental activity for any golfer. For me, it is critical to prepare for what comes next in my game. I am not a physical trainer, nor do I profess to be an expert in building training programs. I do, however, understand the importance of being physically fit for golf and life in general.

As an aging golfer (this is relative), I find that staying fit is easier than trying to get fit. I find that I recover from physical exertion faster if I stay fit. I sleep better, feel better and my general attitude remains positive if I stay physical fit. So, and I guess you figured this out by now, that training in the off-season has many benefits that transcend golf. Continue reading

The Science of Golf

Science is the core factor to innovative changes to new golf equipment or at least to manufacturers. Personally, I do not understand most of the physics behind golf, but I can appreciate that science is important to playing great golf.

Bryson DeChambeau has taken ‘the science of golf’ to a new level. A recent US Amateur Champion and low amateur at the 2016 Masters, DeChambeau is also a “mad scientist of sorts”. Continue reading

All I Want for Christmas….

With only 2 weeks until Christmas, many people are frantically running around to find that special something for the special people in their lives. This stressful aspect of the holidays can be fun for some and a source of pure dread for others. Personally, my wife and I solved this nut years ago and the next two weeks are going be spent hanging out and enjoying the beauty that mother nature has to offer.

As a golfer, receiving golf gifts is an almost certainty. The real challenge for most not golfers is to purchase that unique golf related gift that brings joy and happiness to the receiver. Playing a Golf in Spain

I have never teed it up in Spain, however Clint, a frequent reader of The Grateful Golfer, dropped me a couple of pictures of his favorite courses in Spain. I appreciate the pictures and his explanation of how he played the holes.
