Playing a Draw or Fade in Golf

Hitting Straight is a miracle.

What is your natural ball flight?

My natural trajectory of a golf ball is straight or a very slight fade. Hitting the ball straight 80% of the time might seem like a gift from heaven, but I can tell you that sometimes I wish could shape the ball. I do work at shaping the ball on the range, but it is not something that comes natural.

If you are wondering about the other 20% of the time, my ball will fade or draw, but it is not controlled. I am not sure why this ball flight randomly decides to show up, but when it does, funky things happen to my game. The 20% randomness is a subject for another blog, for now I want to focus on the 80%! Continue reading

Nine Days Until The Masters

Chipping Phil MickelsonWhat makes The Masters more than just a golf tournament!?  Is it that Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus are the youngest first time and two-time champions respectively!?  Is it that Jack Nicklaus has won 6 green jackets!?  Is it because in 1935 Gene Sarazen’s double eagle on 15th hole coined “the shot heard ‘round the world”!? There are only four wire-to-wire champions. Is it that the oldest Masters champion is golf’s great Jack Nicklaus at age 46?  Phil Mickelson’s shot from behind a tree on the 13th hole to 5 feet from the pin. The Masters is just around the corner. The excitement is building and most golfing fanatics are slowly counting the seconds tick away. This is a yearly tradition for most players as the first Major of the year marks the start of the golf season, especially those of us in the northern climes!

Easter marks the last milestone of winter and the first major event of spring. Golf season is weeks away and The Masters is just around the corner! My excitement always grows this time of year; I am like a young child hunting for Easter treats!

I wish all of you a Happy Easter and hope your day is full of happiness and joy!

A good theme to write about?

What to write about everyday is a bit challenging some times. The topics generally pop into my head and I decide to put words to paper. I enjoy writing about golf and has become a passion of mine. However, some days I wonder if the topics I choose are hitting the mark.

Many of The Grateful Golfer readers are writers themselves and they understand my dilemma. Those who just enjoy reading, can likely associate my musing with something they have a passion for. Determining what to write about everyday is a challenge. Continue reading
