Golf courses are made up of three types of holes: Par 3s, Par 4s and Par 5s. I realize that this is the most obvious statement I have made on my blog, but stay with me there is a point. Each of these types of holes offer an opportunity to score birdies, but only if they compliment your game. Thus, each of us will score differently on the holes and as a result will set us up mentally for success or failure. Scoring holes are unique to each player and only they can decide which holes suit their game on any given day.

Hitting Golf Balls At The Range
How often do you go to the range to practice your game? When you do, have you given much thought as to how or what you are going to practice when you get there? Many players, including myself in the past, would buy a large bucket, whack them without much thought, then spend a couple of minutes chipping and putting. I realized many years ago that going to the range must be more than just hitting golf balls. I have talked about using your range time effectively in the past, but I think I need to up my game a bit more to really achieve something that will help my game.

How many times have we failed to capitalize on a great golf shot? I am confident I cannot count that high! And yesterday’s round was a perfect example of how I added to the tally. It was crazy that when I made three great shots, my expectations for a great hole rose immediately. Unfortunately, the next shot brought me rocketing back to earth. I cannot complain because ultimately shot a 79, but I cannot help think that I left some many strokes out on the course. But, that is always the way…..right?
