Every golf shot as a plethora of possibilities. I never observed any golf shot that only had one shot available to the player. There is always another option, it might not be a good one, but it is still an option. That is where the mix between course management and player ability cross. The trick is to choose the right shot for you and commit to playing it. Putting From The Right Side Of The Hole
Watching the action at Torrey Pines, I am continually struck by the importance of putting from the proper position. I watched many players lip out because they were in the wrong position caused by being on the wrong side of the hole. I realized that many approach shots were made with medium irons and that makes a difficult task for any golfer and Torrey Pines just makes it more challenging. But enough of the difficult conditions at the US Open, the lessons I learned from watching golf this weekend is hitting my approach shot the proper side of the hole is as critical for shooting low scores.

Watching the opening holes of the 2021 PGA Championship at was exciting and somewhat mind boggling. As the announcers second guess many of the opening tee shots, I have to agree that shot selection was a bit suspect at best for many of the big hitters. I am not sure what the players thought process was because many of them hit driver ended up their ball into the deep rough or hazard. Normally, I would say that this not really a big deal except a 3 wood sounded like the right play. Especially on the first hole of the second Major of the year.

Whether we do feel as physically capable or we mentally are tired, we need to make adjustments to our golf game on a daily basis. How about those days where we make an intended change; how does that affect our golf game. I have talked about the domino effect in previous posts and that is important to understand.
